Since his existence, he has brought pleasure, serenity, and comfort to children and people of all ages worldwide. A Teddy Bear is very special, because he is more than a toy - he is a companion. He has wonderful qualities, he consoles when needed, he has compassion when required, and he knows everything about us including our deepest thoughts. He is our most intimate friend! Did you ever feel like that about your Teddy Bear? I am sure you did, we all did!

Children of all ages love stuffed teddy bears and for good reason! They’re cuddly, warm, and cute and they don’t make a mess on your living room floor before guests arrive! The joy a stuffed animal can bring to a child is a wonderful and amazing thing and I believe every child should have at least one favorite bear in her lifetime.

Teddy Bear has reached its 106th Birthday, that is a good old ripe age, but we all know he will live forever.

A childhood favourite has reached a ripe old age - the teddy bear is 100 years old.

The toy was first created in 1902 and was named after the then president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt.

Historians agree the teddy bear got its name when ‘Teddy’ Roosevelt, as the 26th president was nicknamed, was on a hunting trip in Mississippi. The president failed to make a kill and so his hosts caught a bear, presenting it to him as a target. He refused to shoot it, saying: “Spare the bear”.
His action was immortalised in a Washington Post cartoon and, consequently, a pair of New York shopkeepers, Morris and Rose Michtom, made a soft toy bear they called Teddy’s Bear. The toy were an immediate success.

At the same time, a factory in Germany owned by seamstress Margarete Steiff began making a soft plush, jointed bear - with a trademark button in the left ear.

In 1903, the company exported 3,000 bears to America.

“Steiff was always the most expensive and is consequently the most valuable now.”

Everyone has nostalgic memories about their stuffed teddy bears.

Unleash your creativity and make adorable presents for your loved ones.

Do you remember Mr. Bean and his adorable brown teddy bear? I am shore you do =) Now you can make one your self and surprise someone with Mr. Beans bear. I am certain everyone will love it. I already knitted one and all my friends who saw it, wants me to me to make them one!

Oh, and it has a floppy neck just like the bear in the movie so you can re-enact the “hypnotize teddy” scene for your friends ;)

Make a crocheted teddy bear! They are some of the least expensive teddy bears. Of course if you make them yourself. Yarn is relatively cheap compared to other materials when it comes to making teddy bears. And anyone can learn to crochet. The crocheted teddy bear can be even more precious to a child when it is created with love. Teddy bears that are crocheted by hand are always unique and special. They will definitely become heirlooms as their value will only increase over the years. If you want to make your own crocheted teddy bear i found couple of great sites about crocheting them.

I also found a nice book:

And if anyone wants to learn to crochet or to fresh up their skills i found these book and a great DVD with the most recommendations:

The Giant Panda is one of the most recognizable, lovable and adorable animals in the world, with its stocky build and striking color contrast of black and white patches. The Panda has large black fur patches over its eyes, most of its torso and head are white and its back, legs and ears are black.

The Panda lives in six small areas located in China . In China they call the Panda “Xiongmao”, which means Giant Cat Bear. The Panda was believed to have magical powers that could ward off natural disasters and evil spirits. Writings about the Pandas can be traced back 3,000 years. They were even kept as pets by Chinese Emperors. The Panda was first introduced to the Western world in 1869 by a French missionary.

Because of its black and white contrast many people love the stuffed panda bear. In my collection of bears I have 9 panda bears. They are the cutes of all. I think everyone who collects teddy bears, shod have a panda bear. Here are some cutes pictures:
